Snip!

Snip!, originally uploaded by risabee2007.
It's that time. The sugar content is a little low still, but the grapes have begun growing blue fuzz and tumbling off the vine. We'll try to make a decent wine with these, and juice whatever does not go into the first five gallons. The rest, the chickens can wait for as they drop.

  1. Oh, stop it! I'm even jealous of the chickens! :-)

  2. They have undiscriminating tastes. All the grapes will be gone before you or I would wanta eat 'em. Oh, and they have lots and lots of seeds!

  3. No grapes at all this year - what little bit of fruit set, Bambi ate.

  4. Dang it, Bambi! I was so hoping you'd behave better this year!

Ours did hop the "deer" fence once. Nearly destroyed a new cherry tree. I thought cherry leaves were supposed to be somewhat poisonous to stock, but Bambi loves 'em ...

  5. Cherry, both sweet and sour, grape, apricot, apple, plum, and daylily are Bambi's leaves of choice, now that the garden has been barricaded. At least he's not eating the branches (yet).
