This blog contains 1000 posts. Posting to Blogger with such a large archive has become unwieldy. Also, your blogista, who is sewing a kesa, is not writing much at present. She has ceased adding new posts. Still-active links are here.

Seeds and seedlings

Spring planting at Stony Run Farm. We use our own saved seed and/or buy organic, non-GMO seeds from Fedco or Territorial and sometimes buy overrun plants from a friend who has an organic starts business. We have never used commercial pesticides or herbicides. We mix up plantings (polyculture), compost and mulch year round, plant enough for the bugs and ourselves and might make a nicotine-garlic spray if desperate. Running ducks through the garden from time to time helps.
