They really come into their own on the wood cookstove, on the electric range, not so much.

Thanks for the story - I have people in my family like your relative :(

Glad your pan made it's way home!Throwback at Trapper Creekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12418370592659531735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28394335.post-76850346253603104562009-11-17T10:03:34.269-08:002009-11-17T10:03:34.269-08:00Thank 'ee, dear; we do have lids but I was mou...Thank 'ee, dear; we do have lids but I was mourning the loss of the original ...Doyu Shoninhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00148504542232844586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28394335.post-24400768898719092462009-11-17T09:40:57.865-08:002009-11-17T09:40:57.865-08:00Several years ago, my nonstick skillet - with the ...Several years ago, my nonstick skillet - with the lifetime guarantee - became a stick skillet. My sweetie bought me a new one, different brand, but it didn't last nearly as long as the first. About this time, we were looking more at sustainable living and decided to drag out the old dusty cast iron skillet. It may have been a wedding present, I don't recall. I use it almost every day now and just love it. I bought a heavy duty scouring brush dedicated to its cleaning only that allows us to forgo the soap and use only hot water for cleaning.

A couple years ago, I picked up a large Le Creuset casserole dish with lid for almost nothing at a yard sale. Turns out the lid fits my skillet perfectly. This has really helped!

If you want one, you can probably order a new lid for yours through one of the camping supply stores.Chilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11406176434011890590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28394335.post-59325574530960645692009-11-16T18:04:41.302-08:002009-11-16T18:04:41.302-08:00I have a skillet just like it that I love. 10 1/2...I have a skillet just like it that I love. 10 1/2" at the top, 8" at the bottom, 3" deep. On the bottom it says "10 1/2" chicken fryer". I don't remember where I got it. I also have a cast iron lid for it, aquired separately, probably from a garage sale or thrift store.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28394335.post-76752551744062414182009-11-16T17:53:26.871-08:002009-11-16T17:53:26.871-08:00That will be why it hasn't happened (yet) -- w...That will be why it hasn't happened (yet) -- we never go above medium, except while canning or beermaking. ;)Doyu Shoninhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00148504542232844586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28394335.post-10327290978405911792009-11-16T17:21:15.953-08:002009-11-16T17:21:15.953-08:00"season with extra virgin olive oil."
