Yeah, I had something like it happen to me ... I ordered 1 dozen eggs for my incubator, figuring that ducks will have to wait until next year, but we can enlarge the chicken pen and squeeze in a few more layers ... the second after I hit Paypal, I remember that we are leaving for NYC in mid-May ... when the future chicks will be in the brooder needing all kinds of attention. Lonni
Many ducks get by fine with a five gallon bucket (add buckets as flock grows) changed twice a week, more in hot weather. We use these in strategic places (where we want more slug patrolling) and we use a kiddie pool.
I like the duck foto but how 'bout some beak action?! I like their little duckie beaks. Anyways this post is a little confusing but nice too.
ReplyDeletecheers,
farmer alex

ReplyDeleteSome beak action in this earlier post.
ReplyDeleteAch, Lonni, hence the need for a house-sitter?
Yeah. DD is supposed to recruit money-hungry teens for the job. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteA teen money hungry enough for farm work? I remember those.
ReplyDeleteDucklings! I would love some but DH is not convinced. Maybe if we ever put in a pond .....
